some character design of UP

Tarzan character design

Rigging is a bridge between digital character and their performance.

As my research qusetion how to make funny animation. Character design is one of the important element, i am always believe that the character reveal your style of whole animation work, there is other important point in digital character design, that is Rigging also called binding.

First, character design whatever traditional or digital figure must be created fit for their performances, sometimes an animation idea comcept from a person who come from our life, that is good reference to creat an animation character, but some times we already had a script, or we need creat a character for this story, at that time, this person's action and behaviour are references of performance, accroding those reference you can  imagine the character. That is the process from my experience.

Why i said digital animation character has little different because rigging is a bridge between character and their performance.

Of course, at the begining of character design you don't need consider with rigging, but when you finish concept and most of the charecter, you need consider which part does some spcial things of which part of body how to move, what performance and action let character do.

The Storyboard and film language

The storyboard and film language are an important process to show what you want to do at your animation work, that are part of pre-setting. Those are make idea and your concept clear-up. easy to remain your thought.

WHY STORYBOARD?

i found some academic theory about storyboarding.this is come from book "FROM WORD TO IMAGE"--------- Marcie Begleiter  2010

The auther said:"film and video are highly collaborative media. Most projects depend on the input and cooperation of dozens, if not hundreds, of coworkers, In order for the producton to work smoothly, there needs to a method to communicate about the numerous decisions that must be made by each department and coordinated by the director and his or her senior staff. The storyboard and its related documents--- the shot list and the overhead diagram --- are essential tools for communicating visual ideas to the entire crew."

In my opinon, i agree with above theory and i think it depends which case how many people involve into the work, i done storyboard not too much, before i creat this story" The girl and her eraser", after reading academic book about story and tutorial that give me an clear up concept about this, i would like classify it, there are different type and depends on their degree, to what degree and how many detail provided by story is important.  Other auther ,Andy Myatt metion that : there are 4 type :
  The thumbnail storyboard

  The rough storyboard

  The clean-up

  The animatic

this time i make an animatic storyboard

there are many different statements and classification, Marcie Begleiter 2010 metion that shot list and text reference all included in the storyboard, put all things together, other auther Andy Wyatt
break up the storyabord and shot list and text reference. I believe Andy's point more clearly and simple way as animation storyboard especially for independent filmmaking.

In conclusion, personaly speaking ,i believe to seprate the storyboard and film shot as two part can make clean up thought, because storyboard focus on how the story going to be, and film language focus on the shot, example, does this shot and camara angle realy fit for this scene or not, i think film language process can make storyboard close to actual combat.

and other stordboard book worth to read

Ideas and concepts---- what is your most want to tell

For this part,I have lots things to say, because some of student spend too much time on this stage, this is an important stage for whole project, also a story theory and story background resource,

my pointview and commons on a reference book

The Complete Digital Animation Course
--- Andy Wyatt
pubilshed in 2010 by Thams & Hudson Ltd. in U.K.

As recently reading about my research, and also basic on PGDip requestment, this book give me a good guide and make me to clarify those idea on my own, my research is how to make an animation goes to funny, i want through this research to sum up and common the process of  an animation whatever you use which kind of  animation techniques, the process of animation making is the same.

as follows, i will metion some aspects which i consider the basic elements to make an animation.

and i will give my opinion on how to make an fascinating animation, basic on those classifies.

  • pre-production basics
  • ideas and concepts
  • story research
  • reference
above 4 aspects is most original things when you make animation, when you finish this 4 things that means you have strong background to creat an animation.
  • scriptwriting
  • the storyboard
  • film language
  • concept design
  • environment design
  • character design

above 6 aspects is pre-setting generally, to make an animation, it depends on quality of work, because some work just make by one person, some work  product by animation studio,or company, so that is why the process has little bit different,  according to the method which you will choose, also arising the distinctions.but much of a muchness.

  • Mini Bible
  • Organization
For this two classifies, you need to make a Mini Bible and Organization , that was Andy Wyatt metion at this book, mini bible at this book is described that "If you are hoping to get funding for or interest in your idea, you will need an exciting presentation of the project: the '' mini bible''. ''  (AndyWyatt ,2010) . About Organization " Even the shortest of animation projects involves a small army of artists, thechnicians and performers. The person who plan, motivates and makes it all happen is the producer." (Andy Wyatt, 2010). I believe that mini bible just a one of the way to get funding, but if you just want make an animation by yourself and you have money support your work, mini bible is a good way to clear up and review a work so that remind you at all the time.

  •  Animation techniques

those classifies most come from this book,as my pointview i changed some words, but the basic theory is much of a muchness.

my research based on this book, i will extend each part of classify and intergrate with other book ,because this book just a frame of process of an animation,if you want make a hight quality and attractive animation, you need research each part of element, so reading extensively and intergrate the information is necessary. If possible, when i finish the research i will publish it , i think it maybe could provide some useful information for animatior who wants product an animation individual behavior. why i want to make this kind of book? First, because when i was a beginner at this area, i try to found lots information, but i never got a orderliness thought, maybe because without such good book to read.  Second, accroding those years study, process of animation is still discovered by me,except doing drawing and some of multimedia work. So I will wrote it as soon as possible.

about pixrilation

Today, I got a new word about animation,
pixelation (ˌpɪksɪˈleɪʃən)
n
a video technique in which an image is blurred by being overlaid with a grid of squares, usually to disguise the identity of a person

pixelation
Part of Speech: n
Definition: the process of digitizing a printed image; also, the display of such an image as a pattern of pixels which are obvious to the eye; also written pixellation
 Dictionary.com's 21st Century Lexicon

pixelation

The adjective pixilated is unrelated.

1) Pixelation is a term sometimes used to describe the act of turning a printed image into a digitized image file (such as the GIF file that is used to display an image on a Web page). As the image is captured, it is processed into a vectorized or rasterized file that can be used to illuminate color units called pixel s on a display surface.

2) Pixelation is the display of a digitized image where the individual pixels are apparent to a viewer. This can happen unintentionally when a low-resolution image designed for an ordinary computer display is projected on a large screen and each pixel becomes separately viewable.
